LONGMONT - When Victoria Eckes' father began in real estate 25 years ago, his advertising was probably a lot like others in the business - lots of newspaper classified ads.
Today, she is bringing Realtors and newspapers together with advertising options specifically designed for the information age. Eckes is president and chief executive officer of Yakalo Solutions. Started last year in Longmont within the Boulder Technology Incubator, her company is helping Realtors stand out in cyberspace, and, at the same time, giving newspapers a new revenue source.
Yakalo helps Realtors streamline the entry and distribution of new property listings, and it helps newspapers enhance their Web sites and highlight local communities and real estate professionals. The Denver Post is using it now.
"I've never seen a product that's been embraced by the real estate community like this one," said Eric Grilly, vice president of interactive media at The Denver Post. "Of course, it's a work in progress, and we'll continue to improve it, but even now it's a compelling advertising solut ion that consumers and advertisers both like."
