lomega's Ditto Max(TM) Multiple Capacity Tape Drive Based On Verbatim Media
Using patented technology, data storage pioneer Verbatim Corporation has expanded its QIC-EXtra and TR-EXtra(TM) series of tape storage media to include DM-EXtra(TM). Verbatim's DM-EXtra technology enabled Iomega Corporation to develop its Ditto Max(TM) family of multiple capacity tape drives. At PC EXPO in mid-June, Iomega announced the Ditto Max drive family with a 10GB capacity based on Verbatim's Ditto Max cartridge line. Both drives and media will come to market in the October/November time frame.
Iomega and Verbatim are redefining tape performance with Iomega's Ditto Max system, utilizing DM-EXtra technology as well as new software and hardware technologies. The internal Ditto Max Professional drives are up to four times faster than Iomega's Ditto 3200 drives. Plus, the unique Flash!File Partition (125MB uncompressed) allows access to needed files in an average of five seconds. Verbatim Ditto Max cartridges will be available in 10GB, 7GB, SGB and 3GB capacities (assuming 2:1 compression), so users can select the Verbatim Ditto Max cartridge that meets their needs.
