Urban Outfitters opens second upstate location in Ithaca

ITHACA--Clothing retailer Urban Outfitters, Inc. (NASDAQ: URBN), opened its second store in upstate New York at 133 E. Green St. in Ithaca on July 2.

Local officials believed Urban Outfitters would be an "ideal" match for downtown Ithaca, says Gary Ferguson, executive director of the Downtown Ithaca Alliance.

"The number one most requested store from our high school and college-age students was always Urban Outfitters," Ferguson adds, noting the Alliance has conducted focus groups, studies, and surveys on the topic.

Ferguson believes Urban Outfitters saw real market potential in Ithaca, especially with Cornell University and Ithaca College located nearby.
