These two recipe books are identical in purpose: how to make a Meal, Ready to Eat (MRE) field ration taste better. Both books point out that one of the keys to better taste is hot pepper sauce, specifically, Tabasco. Galen Geer, a former Marine, has added certain other condiments to his recipes, such as black pepper, garlic and onion powder, and Heinz 57 sauce.
