Transcat Inc. this week promoted its president and chief operating officer to CEO, succeeding Carl Sassano as he transitions to executive chairman of the local distributor.
Sassano, 57, has served as CEO for the last five years and chairman since October 2003. He will continue working with new CEO Charles Hadeed to identify future acquisition targets, the company said.
Previously, Sassano was president and COO at Bausch & Lomb Inc., in 2000 and 1999, respectively, but his career there spanned from 1973 to 2000.
Outside Transcat, Sassano is a director of IEC Electronics Corp. and a partner in CSW Associates, a private, Rochesterbased investment partnership.
Hadeed, also 57, has served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Transcat. He also spent most of his career at Bausch & Lomb.
Jay Woychick, vice president of marketing at Transcat, has worked with both men since they joined the company.
Their business approach is similar, he said, but there is a difference in their style.
