Last year, combined revenues at the top 125 U.S. dealership groups rebounded almost to the pre-recession level of 2008.
But with sales of new cars and trucks not rebounding as strongly, the revenue gains were largely the result of the way dealerships handled used-vehicle inventories. In 2010, the top 125 groups sold more used vehicles at retail and sent fewer to auctions than in 2008.
