On January 20, 1986, the first observance of Martin Luther King's birthday as a national holiday, a White disc jockey, Doug "Greaseman" Tracht, reportedly told his Washington, D.C. radio audience: "If assassinating one Black leader is worth one day off, then killing four more should be good for getting rest of the week off."
Almost a year later, he is still on WWDC -- and Jack The Rapper doesn't like it. And for his unwavering job of not letting America forget this atrocity, The Rapper gets my vote for "Black Man of the year."
Since that nefarious event, Jack The Rapper has been kicking our behinds and calling the names of those "leaders" who have sat on their hands and done nothing about "Greaseman's" arrogant insult to Martin Luther King last January.
Some Howard University students picketed and organized against WWDC and its advertisers, with some limited success. But the responsibilities of finishing college prohibited their involvement in full-time movement. I produced a television program ("Sic Radio") and spotlighted the issue (It will air again in January around Martin Luther King's birthday).
