Purcell, the firm's one-time co-CIO who had just returned from a six-month sabbatical, is leaving the Tiger Cub-founded firm.

Well, that was quick. Just six weeks after returning from a six-month sabbatical, Thomas Purcell, the one-time co-chief investment officer of Viking Global Investors, is leaving the firm for good.
In a letter sent to clients on Monday, the Greenwich, Connecticut-based hedge fund firm, founded by Tiger Cub O. Andreas Halvorsen (and two others), said Purcell plans to manage his personal investments "and explore some outside business interests."
