When it comes to displaying digital images, there's never been anything quite like Apple's iPad. With its gorgeous, touch sensitive 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD screen with 1024 x 768 resolution, the iPad is a device that just begs to be used as a portfolio. And many photographers have done just that, either through the iPad's basic built-in photo viewer or one of the many snazzy photo portfolio apps in Apple's App Store.

Xtrafolio Photo Portfolio Professional
Yes, this app has kind of a funny name. But if you're looking for a solid portfolio app, it's x-tra important you check out this professional iPad program for your photos. Xtrafolio Photo Portfolio Professional has some great customization features that let you personalize the app to spotlight your work and your photography business. You can change background colors, folder colors and even font colors along with adding your company's logo. We also like the optional home page, which lets you brand yourself in the app while providing additional info about you and your photo projects. Xtrafolio Photo Portfolio Professional is a little more expensive than some competing apps but the price is reflected in the app's classy look and feel.

Sort Shots
Don't be fooled by this app's somewhat consumer-style interface: It's a pro-level organizer thanks to its ability to harness existing metadata and EXIF info in your images. If you tag, keyword, rate or label your shots in programs such as Apple Aperture or Adobe's Lightroom or Bridge, Sort Shots will recognize that info and help you find specific photos quickly.
