Sun Microsystems' Java executives last week sketched out a plan to provide a simplified developer tool that enables developers using Microsoft Visual Basic (VB) to write complex applications in Java code.
The strategy, slated to be unveiled at JavaOne 2003 in two weeks, is yet another example of Sun playing catch-up in the Java software space. BEA Systems, Borland, Macromedia and IBM's Rational division all have stated intentions to help make Java development more digestible.
