In a case with potentially national implications, a pair of Florida Starbucks store managers are suing Starbucks Corp. for overtime pay.
Managers Sean Pendlebury of Boca Raton and Laurel Overton of Delray Beach claim they should not be exempt from earning overtime because the bulk of their duties are not managerial. Their duties consist primarily of making lattes and serving customers, according to court filings. Since they say their jobs are similar to that of Starbucks' hourly employees, the managers charge they quality for overtime pay under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
