SYRACUSE - Onondaga Community College (OCC) will finish work on its new 6,500-seat arena and a new addition to its Health and Physical Education Building by December 2011.
The $24 million project began earlier this year. It will add several major new features to OCC's campus.
The college expects the 59,000-square-foot SRC Arena to host high-school athletics events as well as the school's own sports teams. Local track and running organizations will also likely make use of the facility's six lane, 200-meter track, says William Emm, OCC's CFO.
Inside the track, the arena will feature three college-sized basketball courts, which will also convert to tennis and volleyball courts. And the space can be divided, so different sports can take place on different courts at the same time, Emm says.
