Silver Creek vodka finds its niche

Makers of potato-based vodka are getting three calls each month from out-of-state residents who want to buy the product made in Idaho. All get the same answer--only in Idaho.

Silver Creek Distillers started producing premium vodka at Rigby a year ago. Spokesman Adam Ackerman said sales at Idaho dispensaries have been moderate overall but strong in specific areas.

At the nationally famous Sun Valley resort, Silver Creek Vodka is "selling hand-over-fist," he said. It is an up-scale vodka made to compete with top international brands. It sells for $12.70 per fifth-gallon.
