The Axent's On SingleSource Solutions
Axent's high-profile merger with Raptor Systems Inc., announced in late 1997, capped a year of rapid growth in which the company saw overall revenues increase 96% to $67.0 million. The deal with Raptor, finalized in February and worth a reported $245 million, ensures that Axent will strengthen its position as a full-service enterprise security firm.
The trend towards consolidation in the network security industry and ongoing demand for single-source security services bodes well for Axent. According to Steven Foote, VP of research strategy at the Hur vitz Group, companies want a single security vendor so they don't get embroiled in vendor fingerpointing when an intrusion attempt succeeds.
