MORE THAN 2,600 PEOPLE ARE ENROLLED IN PROGRAM WHICH IS LESS THAN FIVE YEARS OLD
The RPLU (Registered Professional Liability Underwriter) designation has quickly moved from idea to actuality to being in demand. It's nearly amazing, in an industry that seems to have covered every possible combination of letters, that an untaken acronym could be found or that such an acronym would become in short order a designation that insurance professionals would want and need after their names. But the RPLU has become a designation that is recognized and supported by companies that want their people to show they understand the complex world of professional liability.
PLUS Secretary/Treasurer Fred Fisher, president of Frederick John Fisher Insurance & Surplus Lines Broker, Torrance, California, points out that, "We're starting to see want ads that look for people with the RPLU designation. And several insurance companies are putting every person involved in professional liability through the program."
Fisher adds that RPLU has become institutionalized. Courses now are offered in a classroom setting at three prestigious insurance educational institutions-the College of Insurance in New York City, the Insurance School of Chicago and at four California locations of IBA West, which has its main office in San Francisco.
