Renault Truck's 8x4 tipper offering at Euro-5 consisted of two model ranges, Premium Lander and Kerax. Lander was recommended for use when the majority of the mileage was on-road, and so was the more commonly specified of the two, accounting for 60% of Renault's 8x4 sales recently. Kerax was popular among operators who wanted to cater for tougher off-road conditions, calling for more ground clearance.
At Euro-6 we now have C range and K range. C stands for construction and K maintains a link to the Kerax name and its associations with heavy-duty applications. Like their predecessors, each is suited to different volumes and the severity of off-road conditions, but in this case it seems likely that Lander's successor C range, will account for an even higher proportion of Renault's 8x4 sales in the UK. "We describe C range as doing everything Lander did, plus more," explains Renault Trucks UK product marketing manager Dave Ririe. "K range is likely to be used more in quarrying and mining."
C range
Renault believes the C range will be able to satisfy more applications than the previous Premium Lander because it has a wider range of chassis and running-gear options, so can be tailored to suit more purposes. For example, although the chassis is carried over from Lander, Renault now offers various levets of flitching around the rear of the chassis to achieve the best balance of low weight and strength for a range of body mountings.

However, the 10.8-litre * * engine established a strong reputation for good fuel economy at * Euro-5 and it also offers good power and torque density, so is likely to * l remain the more popular choice in the C range 8x4.
