Remke Markets Inc. has closed its Ft. Wright store in response to changes made in the lease by the new owners of the Delco Plaza shopping center on Dixie Highway. The center, mostly vacant for several years, is undergoing changes likely to bring in new anchor tenants.
Remke closed its store Sept. 19, citing lease changes that "would require a substantial capital investment that cannot be justified due to the close proximity of our Ft. Mitchell and Taylor Mill stores," Bill Remke, president, said in a letter to customers.
Remke said in the letter all Remke employees would be reassigned to the company's other three stores, in Ft. Mitchell, Taylor Mill and Florence.
The decision to close was made after the shopping center was sold to a partnership headed by Alvin Lipson, of Clifton-based Midwest Commercial Group, in May.
