Pxl SmartScale software
Pxl SmartScale from Extensis - the company that markets such useful utilities as MaskPro, PhotoTools for Photoshop and Suitcase for font management - is a plug-in for Photoshop which Extensis claims to produce superior results when scaling up images.
Powered by PixelLive technology, Pxl SmartScale is claimed by the manufacturer to produce no discernable loss in the printed quality of scaled up images because all the brightness and colour data of the original is maintained.
This is a bold claim which I was unable to substantiate because the nature of the image changed significantly, as I have described below.
What would have been a more reasonable claim...
