Hickman Cancer Center, part of the ProMedica Cancer Institute, is preparing to begin a $400,000 expansion on the campus of Flower Hospital in Sylvania. As part of the ongoing strategic plan for the ProMedica Cancer Institute, the project will increase Hickman's infusion bays from 15 to 20 as well as rework the nurses' stations. The pharmacy, will be relocated and expanded as well.
Maumee-based M2 Design Services is the architect for the project. A general contractor has not yet been finalized.
As Toledo Business Journal goes to press, a start date hasn't been determined, but, according to Brian McNulty, project engineer, corporate construction management, ProMedica Health System, the project is expected to begin soon.
Ann Kujawa, MSN, RN, OCN, ProMedica Health System administrative director, ProMedica Cancer Institute, explained, "We have seen a sustained increase in our volumes over the last several years as well as after the initial renovations back in 2008. There hadn't been any renovation or formal expansion of the department since it was built in the mid to late 1970s.
