Salvoni heads to HSBC - Barclays hires Dainton to run equities - MUFG beefs up credit
Deutsche promotes Patrick to US head
Deutsche Bank said on Tuesday that Tom Patrick, head of equities and co-head of CIB Americas, would become head of Americas.
Patrick will join the board of DB USA as chief executive, and be chief executive for the Americas at group level, while maintaining his existing roles as head of equities and co-head of CIB Americas.
He has been with Deutsche since 2012, following an 18 year career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (Merrill Lynch before 2008).
His appointment follows the departure of Bill Woodley, who had been chief executive for Americas and chief executive of DB USA since last summer when DB USA, the bank's intermediate holding company, was first created. Though Woodley was chief executive of Americas, Jeff Urwin, who had been a major trophy hire for the bank when he joined from JP Morgan in 2015 (and the last major hire under former group chief executive Anshu Jain), was the management board member responsible for Americas.
Urwin took on oversight for the region in 2016 alongside his role as global head of CIB.
Earlier this year, however, he decided to retire from the bank, a move which came as the bank changed course in another major management overhaul, recombining the markets and investment banking businesses that Deutsche Bank split in October 2015, and adding transaction banking to the division.
Group chief executive John Cryan stepped in as the management board member responsible for Americas following Urwin's decision to step down, though the bank said that Urwin would still "continue to support the bank, especially regarding regulatory topics in the United States". He retains this role following Patrick's appointment.
