Cult-followers of Restoration Hardware use the three words to describe their favorite store, as does Borders Perrin & Norrander Advertising Agency in capturing the mood of its new print-ad campaign for the California-based chain of stores.
The ads strive to capture Restoration Hardware's success at selling furniture and household items inspired by the past, said Daniel Baxter, Borders' director of account planning.
Borders won the account last June amidst competition from Black Rocket of San Francisco, Virginia-based Martin Agency and Ground Zero of Santa Monica, Calif.
"The stores are all about exploration, juxtaposition--a Mission-style table with a ballpeen hammer atop it," Baxter said.
To capture that same essence, Borders used black-and-white photos of glamorous, romantic 1940s-era people opposite the stores' lamps,...
