BRISTOL--While Canadian RV manufacturers continue to share more and more of their market with American-made products, one Canadian firm has decided it's time to taste a little American pie.
"We're really looking for this plant to be a steppingstone to gaining market share here in the United States," said American Bill Horvath, director of operations for the Canadian-owned Fireside RV Inc.
The company, which began operations last February, is owned by the Firan Corp., a Canadian manufacturer of electrical components.
Firan is also parent company of Glendale RV Inc., Canada's second largest RV manufacturer. In Canada, Firan's RV products compete head-on with American manufacturers, despite a limited 24 million-person market.
"In order to expand our RV market," explains Terry Mullan, president of Glendale and Fireside RV, "we had to come this way."
