Officials at Kansas City International Airport are banking on a new $10.2 million FedEx facility to give the airport a competitive edge in its bid to woo more customers for its air cargo operation.
"We've been on a bit of a roll. DHL began a mini-hub operation here a year ago," says cargo development manager Michael Webber. "We're almost constantly talking to all the integrators about expanding their presence here."
KCI officials say they will highlight the new FedEx facility in their publicity brochures in an effort to recruit additional cargo carriers and freight forwarders.
