Traditional management methods are sometimes ineffective with physicians.
As hospitals continue to acquire physician practices and the number of physician networks grows, many executives are moving into the practice management arena. However, because of the entrepreneurial nature of physicians, traditional management methods are sometimes ineffective with these individuals. Following are some skills to help you successfully manage practices.
Communication
Clearly communicating your organization's objectives is vital if the organization is to succeed. Not only do you have to be a good communicator yourself, but you must also be able to facilitate good communication among others. One way to do this is to create a framework that allows physicians' concerns to be heard.
