Georgi Malenkov was often mentioned as the successor to Stalin upon the latter's natural demise or retirement from his position as Premier. Of all the Soviets making up the Politburo, and especially those favored few at the very peak, Malenkov has been the least known to the Western world. To some extent this is also probably true as it relates to the Soviet people.
