Abstract
The relative blitz of mobile content market consolidation continued last week, with software vendor m-Qube acquiring content distributor Sharp Robot, and in a separate deal, m-commerce marketer Navio buying retail content distributor DVNO. The consolidation reflects the large number of content companies that have emerged to pursue the mobile business in the last few years, as well as the size of that opportunity. The global market for mobile content could be worth a startling $554 billion by 2008, according to a report released last week by Telecom Trends International. Vendors like m-Qube are growing through acquisition in order to achieve the market scalability and expertise in multiple segments of the mobile content value chain.
