It's taken over four years and enough red tape to wrap up a herd of elephants, but Seaway's radio station is now on the air. Residents of the Township of South Dundas can now wake up to a new community-based radio station. CISD, the Storm is a community format low power FM station based at Seaway DHS in Iroquois.
What began as a suggestion to incorporate radio broadcasting into the school's communications technology program, has developed into the second high school-based radio station in Canada. In order to meet the requirements of the CRTC, a community-based non-profit organization first had to be formed. This group holds the license but the main operation of the station is out of the high school with many of Seaway's students involved in programming activities.
