METACREATIONS INFINI-D 4.5 AURORA DESIGN FUSE JVC MW-S1000 TIMEGATE
There are a lot of 3D programs available today, for every platform. All are inherently complex, and I find it amazing how many different ways the natural complexity of working in 3D can be approached. Every program does things a little differently, each has its own trade-offs and compromises. What we generally consider to be the "high-end" programs and systems offer remarkable capabilities. They typically do so, however, at considerable cost in either money, time, or both. Learning any major 3D program is a big commitment, and generally the more powerful they are, the more complex they are.
Having precise control over every creative parameter of a project is always desirable. But in the real world of video and television production there's this thing called time, and there's never enough of it. This is where Infini-D comes in. Infini-D is designed to provide high-end quality 3D simply and quickly within the time and labor constraints of video and television production. It does this by having a fairly sensible set of time-saving tools and shortcuts.
The trade-offs necessary to accomplish this are minimal; Infini-D offers real high-end capabilities and sophisticated features that some of the highpriced systems don't even have. It will do frames at up to 4,000 pixels for film work, which is why it's being used by some of the major animation houses. Infini-D also has selective rendering capabilities, which enables background objects to be rendered at lower resolution than the foreground objects, saving time and space. Infini-D also will do rendering on multiple machines (Mac only) distributed over a network, making it very capable of working in hi-res environments.
The Interface
Infini-D uses the conventional four-viewport interface paradigm, defaulting to TOP, FRONT, RIGHT,...
