San Antonio-based information technology and engineering firm Frontline Systems Inc. has formed an alliance with a pair of local companies to develop new technologies in support of homeland security
Frontline recently inked the pact with biotechnology firms Incell Corp. and TEKSA Innovations as part of its ongoing contract with the Department of Defense (DoD).
For the past year, Frontline has been working under a DoD initiative to identify convergent technologies that can be used
to protect soldiers deployed in the field as well as communities throughout the United States from biological, nuclear or chemical attacks.
Incell and TEKSA - two companies formed in 1993 by University of Texas' Health Science Center professor Mary Pat Moyer - will work to commercialize four to five new technologies currently in varying stages of development in the fields of biodefense and public health.
"We selected Mary Pat Moyer because of her expertise in commercialization and business development and her track
record of getting technology transferred from university and government research labs to the private sector through new start-ups and spinoff companies," says Frontline Chairman Bob Sanchez.
