I have tested quite a few PC workstations over the years, but until now I never considered weight as a review category. I now have a new respect for freight haulers. At 75 pounds shipping weight, the Hewlett Packard VISUALIZE X550 Workstation is by far the heaviest Intelbased desktop computer I have ever used.
A rock-solid case may be impressive at first, but if the performance lags, it might as well be a boat anchor. Fortunately, the HP VISUALIZE is impressive where it counts, in performance. It sets new performance standards on the MSM Benchmark for a singleCPU PC workstation, with a best total time on the benchmark of 45.187 seconds.
The "X" in X550 stands for Xeon, Intel's workstation-class version of the Pentium III CPU. HP sells...
