The terrorist attacks on Septemher 11, 2001, caused tremendous damage to the communications infrastructure located in and around the lower Manhattan area. But despite the destruction, there was relatively little impact on the infrastructure of the Internet, states a new book from the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB) of the National Academies, which advises the federal government on scientific and technological matters.
