Venzon Wireless Arena, Manchester, N.H., opened with 10,000 in attendance for the first home game Nov. 16 for the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, and 11,000 for a sold-out Aerosmith concert Nov. 17.
That was followed by another hockey game, Nov. 18; Barenaked Ladies, Nov. 19; and Bob Dylan, Nov. 21. "We have Thanksgiving off," said Tim Bechert, manager of the building for SMG.
Based on initial ticket sales, "on average 68%-75% of tickets are purchased in New Hampshire. Less than 10% were purchased in Massachusetts and the rest in Vermont and Maine," Bechert said. "We're not really part of the Boston market. We're a new market, unto ourselves."
He was pleased with bookings to date, including lots of hockey in December and a sold-out Elton John date Nov....
