When Paul Bandrowski first considered moving to Buffalo, his only frame of reference was the Dristan cold medicine commercials that flashed dreary images of the Blizzard of '77.
Bandrowski had met with Ron Schreiber several times in Palo Alto, Calif., where Schreiber was attempting to recruit him as chief technology officer for Upgrade Corp. of America, the company that would later become Softbank Services Group and now ClientLogic.
But after a September visit to Western New York, which included the Bills' 1994 season opener on a 78-degree sunny weekend, Bandrowski was sold. He has since become a self-proclaimed evangelist for Buffalo.
I fell in love with Buffalo," he said. "Sometimes the people who are converts are the strongest advocates for it."
A few years ago, Bandrowski and his wife decided they would live here forever and bought a 200-acre spread in
East Aurora, where the couple is raising four children. Professionally, Bandrowski is spending his time helping raise technology firms to their full potential in his newest venture: @visory.
@visory, founded by Bandrowski and Duncan Shaw, began as a hobby about 18 months ago and was incorporated in February. On Sept. 1, @visory moved its offices to Fisher Price founder Irving Price's former home at 259 Main St. in East Aurora.
The company is a consultant to high-tech firms, taking a stock position in exchange for providing assistance in everything from strategy and fundraising to board advisement. Among area companies @visory has worked...
