As is the case with others in our Hall of Fame, Rick Sopher entered the hedge fund industry at an auspicious time. However, it is what he has done with the nearly 25 years since that has gained the attention of other hedge fund investors.
Sopher joined Edmond de Rothschild in 1993. He is chief executive officer of Edmond de Rothschild Capital Holdings and Chairman of the investment committee of Leveraged Capital Holdings, the first multi-manager fund of hedge funds, launched in 1969. In May 2014 he was appointed overall head of fund of hedge funds, which extended his activity to overseeing the group's fund of hedge fund business in Geneva, London, Paris and Luxembourg.
For Sopher, the driving vision for hedge fund investing is simple - to make money for investors. He says everything else is secondary.
