GTE's SuperPages(R) interactive directory service (http://superpages.GTE.net) and Publications International, Ltd. have announced a joint effort that combines PIL's popular Consumer Guide(R) information and GTE's SuperPages service, allowing users to search, compare and select hundreds of products and services on the Internet faster and easier than ever before.
"As partners, GTE and Publications International have created an incredibly robust and easy-to-navigate site that will help busy consumers research the products they want to buy," said Patrick Marshall, vice president, New Media Services at GTE Directories. "Now, through SuperPages, consumers can find information about products, brands and models as well as sellers of those goods."
Consumer Guide(R) interactive, introduced in beta test in December 1996, lets consumers access a vast amount of information on more than 100 different classes of products and services, including TVs, VCRs, stereos and home office equipment. The service, which offers "Best Buy" information and is the only one of its kind on the Internet, lists product reviews and manufacturer information to help users make informed purchasing decisions.
"Publications International has been publishing Consumer Guide magazines for more than 30 years, and now we're taking that valuable printed information to a new level by going online," said Lou Weber, CEO of Publications International. "Our partnership with GTE is the perfect marriage of technology and content, and it opens up a whole new world of shopping for consumers."
