Abstract
On April 29, 2007, the partners of Grant Thornton UK and RSM Robson Rhodes announced that they had agreed to merge the two firms in a deal they expected to close by July 1. RSM Robson Rhodes had originally announced a transaction with RSM McGladrey/ Minneapolis last year. The merged firm will operate as Grant Thornton UK. GT UK CEO Michael Cleary will serve as CEO of the combined firm. Robson Rhodes CEO David Maxwell will serve as a GT UK board member. The merger makes GT UK the fifth-largest accounting and business advisory firm in terms of fee income, with approximately £375 million, according to the firm.
