Long known as a place for getting a good meal and listening to live music, San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter will soon get another entertainment element to attract visitors -- a 15-screen movie theater.
Under construction since late last year is the Gaslamp Pacific Theater at the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and G Street.
According to developer Oliver McMillan, the $15 million project encompasses a two-story, 57,000-square-foot theater, and a renovated building next door on G Street that will include 11,500 square feet of retail space, slated to be leased by Urban Outfitters, and three loft apartments.
Donna Alm, spokeswoman for the Centre City Development Corp. which approved the project last year, said the theater is a wonderful addition to the current make-up of the quarter.
