While San Diegans were going nuts over the Bolts last week, travel companies hammered out last-minute plans for those trekking to Super Bowl XXIX in Miami to see the Chargers take on the San Francisco 49ers.
But, as the week wore on, fans might have had better luck getting to the moon.
"People think they can wait, but they really don't have time to do that," complained a saleswoman at Sports Travel International Ltd. "The flights are taken. They can't wait and think about it."
About 9,000 Charger fans got Super Bowl tickets through a lottery, out of the team's allotment of 11,335 tickets.
By Jan. 26, there were virtually zero rooms available near Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami; ditto for direct-flight airline seats.
