One year after its debut, NetJets Europe is expanding its fleet to meet growing demand.
NetJets Europe, a partnership between Zurich-based Zimex Aviation and Air Luxor in Portugal, is this month adding a Cessna Citation VII to its existing fleet of four Citation S/IIs to accommodate demand for an aircraft with a larger cabin. According to NetJets Europe CEO Hannes Ziegler, the growth is largely being fuelled by the development of NetJets United States customers' travel needs in Europe, but Europeans are also taking to the scheme.
In the USA, NetJets, a unit of Columbus, Ohio-based Executive Jet Aviation, is operating 97 aircraft under its fractional ownership scheme, with 159 more new aircraft on firm order. Executive Jet chairman Richard Santulli, who pioneered NetJets in 1986, recently ordered 50 of the yet-to-be certificated Citation Excels, and 31 Citation Xs. The remainder of the NetJets fleet includes 30 Gulfstream GIVs, 22 Hawker l000s and 20 Hawker 800XPs. NetJets USA counts some 700 owners on...
