CLARKSBURG--By October 2000, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Justice Information Services Complex is planning a downsizing of 300 temporary workers.
FBI officials said that although these are full-time jobs with good benefits, when these temporary workers were hired, they were told there were no guarantees to permanent employment with the FBI.
James V. DeSarno, assistant director in charge of operations for the FBI's 750,000-square-foot center which employs 2,940 workers, released news of potential layoffs of temporary workers the second week of February.
But FBI administrators are being sensitive to the needs of these employees.
Attempts are being made to bring them into permanent positions. Already, 700 of 1,100 temporary workers hired at the facility have been given permanent jobs, DeSarno said.
