The Renewable Heat Incentive has encouraged investment in biomass boilers, but producers still need to get their priorities right. Rhian Price reports
Broiler producers should take a "birds first, not boiler first" approach when it comes to investing in biomass heating solutions.
Under the government's Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), farmers can receive quarterly payments for generating heat from renewable sources (see table below). It forms part of the government's drive to encourage green energy technology and follows the introduction of Feed-in Tariffs two years ago.
