LAUTENBACH LEAVES: Management shuffle ensues
THE MAN BEHIND IBM Corp.'s sales and distribution worldwide strategy resigned last month. Ned Lautenbach, a 30-year veteran of IBM, will step down as senior vice president of sales and distribution at the end of this month. The 54-year-old Lautenbach is leaving to mull over opportunities for becoming chief executive of another company, IBM said.
The executive's departure touched off a series of changes in IBM, based here. Bill Etherington, who had been general manager of IBM Europe/Middle East/Africa, will succeed Lautenbach. Mike Lawrie, previously general manager of Network Computing Software, will take over Etherington's position.
