A year ago, Warren Cohen, the president of Eagle Electric Manufacturing Co., was the toast of the town, after agreeing to keep one of the city's largest manufacturing companies in Queens.
But now it's Mr. Cohen who is looking for work, in the wake of a management shake-up at the privately held company that manufactures switches and plugs.
Eagle Electric's six-member board of directors voted to oust Mr. Cohen and Chief Financial Officer Nicholas Vertucci because of dissatisfaction with the company's direction. The company also has laid off two senior vice presidents, in what officials describe as "downsizing."
The departure of Mr. Cohen is surprising, since he is married to the granddaughter of the company's founder, Lewis Ludwig. His mother-in-law, Eileen Ludwig, is the company's chairwoman. He is being...
