Note: Consumption - Increase in fourth-quarter enquiries
Spot duty-paid aluminium premiums in Europe edged higher on September 23 on an increase in enquiries for the fourth quarter from consumers.
The range rose to $65-72 per tonne from $60-70, with concluded business and several offers reported close to $80 per tonne. Duty-paid premiums had been within the previous range since July 10 with sporadic business being concluded throughout Europe.
A producer source reported buying 500 tonnes of duty-paid material at $72 in-warehouse Rotterdam, needing extra metal to cover orders for the fourth quarter.
"On the other hand, we offered at $70 and we were surprised to have it knocked back," he said.
