Ethernet and IP MPLS VPN Service Revenue to Grow

Ethernet service revenue, including retail and whole sales, is predicted to grow up to USD 56 billion by 2017, according to Infonetics Research. The report analyzes the market for wholesale and retail Ethernet services and managed and unmanaged layer-2 and layer-3 IP MPLS VPN services. The layer-2 and layer-3 IP MPLS VPN service revenue grew eight percent in 2012, and is also on a healthy growth trajectory. Meanwhile, mobile backhaul transport's transition to IP/Ethernet continues. Over 94 percent of the current mobile backhaul spending is on IP/Ethernet equipment.
