TOP NEWS IN EUROPEAN FINANCIALS
* The ECB repeatedly asked Germany's Deutsche Bank AG in recent months to appoint a successor to Chairman Paul Achleitner as the end of his term nears, sources told Reuters. Three men have reportedly been shortlisted for the position and Theodor Weimer, currently CEO of Deutsche Börse AG, was the preferred candidate although he has previously dismissed the idea.
* Swiss bank UBS Group AG and DWS Group GmbH & Co. KGaA, a unit of Germany-based Deutsche Bank, are set to submit final offers for NN Investment Partners BV, the asset management arm of Dutch insurer NN Group NV, insiders told Reuters. U.S.-based Prudential Financial Inc. and Nuveen LLC are also believed to be interested in the unit, which manages some €300 billion, and are conducting due diligence before a deadline for offers in early July.
