With both office space and labor at a premium, San Francisco-based CrossCommerce, an e-merchandising service provider, has chosen Salt Lake City in which to open its second development center.
CrossCommerce's Anneliese Shapiro confirmed the company is in site selection mode and projected a lease would be signed in the next two weeks. The office should be operational with 10 to 12 software engineers by the end of the year, she said, noting the company is looking for a south valley-location in order to be centrally located between the labor pools of Salt Lake and Utah counties.
The company was drawn to Utah in no small part by the fact that some employees, including Shapiro, hail from the Beehive State. "There are several [CrossCommerce] employees who have been at one time or the other in Salt Lake City, and it's no surprise that that market provides a really educated labor force," she said.
