___: Dr. Athar Osama is the first Pakistani scholar who won the prestigious World Technology Network (WTN) award, which is widely seen as Oscar of Science and Technology. Dr. Osama, the director of Middle East and Asia for ANGLE pic, a UK-based technology commercialization, management, and policy firm, received the WTN Award for Science and Innovation Media and Journalism at a ceremony held at the United Nations Building in New York last month.
Osama is the founder of online journal Musi im-Sci enee. Com. , which is aimed at promoting Muslim science. He was selected as a finalist for the science and innovation Media Journalism category after wtn recognized www.Muslim-Science.com as an agent of change.
World Technology Awards, distributed on October 25-26, 2011 at the UN Headquarters in New York, were selected through an intense peer review process by the WTN Fellows through an intensive, global process lasting many months.
Winners were selected from among the finalists with the input of a select group of prominent advisors. Dr. Osama was honored with the WTN award in a galaxy of luminaries and innovators from across the globe at the World Technology Summit in association with TIME, Fortune, CNN, American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and MIT's Technology Review.
WTN has been presenting these awards since the year 2000 to honor those in 20 different categories of science and technology doing the innovative work of the greatest significance.
