Abstract

According to the F-35 Selected Acquisition Report, dated December 2015 and sent to Congress last month, the Pentagon plans to spend $32.2 billion to buy these aircraft and engines during this three-year window, a sum that assumes $2.6 billion in savings for the aircraft from a block buy and $1 billion in savings for the engine from a block buy.
