The D.C. Community Humanities Council (DCCHC) today announced the award of $92,274.60 to fifteen local organizations.
The DCCHC receives and regrants federal funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities for local public projects in the humanities. The recipients are local groups and organizations which submitted proposals to examine public issues from the perspectives of the humanities and/or explore historical, philosophical, literary, and cultural topics and issues.
The twenty-member Council, co-chaired by Roderick S. French and William A. Davis, Jr., chose the fifteen proposals from forty-one submitted by the April 15 deadline. This is the second of three fundings to be made this first year of the Council's existence.
The fifteen grants made were:
